Corvette 1st Quarter Sales in 2023: Weathering the Storm
In the first quarter of 2023, 7,904 new Corvettes found homes, according to General Motors. This number, however, shows a drop of 10.3% compared to the same period last year when 8,811 Corvettes were delivered. This downturn is the most significant since Q1 2021. Stormy weather and parts shortages causing factory shutdowns are the main reasons behind this dip.
Keep in mind, 7,904 isn't a disastrous sales figure. If we could experience a near-perfect quarter, like the one we saw in Q3 2021, we could still be on track for a record-breaking year in North American C8 sales.
Despite these roadblocks, the potential for a record-breaking year in North American C8 sales is still within reach. If the supply chain allows for smooth production, like in Q3 2021, we could make history. For official Q2 2023 sales numbers from GM, check the Corvette Sales Archives in July 2023.
Year | Units |
---|---|
2023 (up to April) | 7,904 |
2022 | 34,510 |
2021 | 33,041 |
2020 | 21,626 |
General Motors isn't slowing down. In Q1 2023, they delivered 603,208 vehicles in the U.S., up by 18%. This growth increased their market share by an estimated 1.5 points, the highest among all automakers. GM has started the year on a high note, selling more than 20,000 EVs as they boost production of Ultium Platform vehicles. They also expanded their truck leadership with new HD and midsize pickup truck launches.
What Happens During A Corvette Z06 PDI?
Ever wondered what goes on during the Pre-delivery Inspection (PDI) of your Corvette Z06? Join Morgan Crosbie from Finch Chevrolet in London, Ontario as he guides us through this meticulous process.
The PDI is a comprehensive process that includes checking fluid levels, prepping the car, and installing any additional options requested by the customer. These additional elements often require more time than the assembly line can accommodate.
As Morgan explains, some parts arrive at the dealership before the car, while others are sent from Bowling Green Assembly Plant along with the vehicle.
During this particular PDI, a C8 Z07 is getting its front splitter and underbody aero strakes installed. Additionally, Corvette Racing graphics are applied to the hood and rear quarter panels. They also swap out the standard Corvette lettering on the back for a vibrant red variant.
