Side rockers, also called side skirts, are trim panels that go on either side of the car along the driver and passenger door. Side rockers serve two important functions: Aerodynamic performance & protection. Side skirts stop air from rushing underneath car which will cause a reduction in downforce. We want air going front to back undisturbed. Second, side skirts help reduce the number of rocks that kick up and damage the paint on the car.
Mud flaps perform the similar function of side skirts in that they stop rocks and other road surface debris from damaging the paint on the car helping you reduce the cost of paint repairs in the future.
