An Impressive Number of Memorable Cars Displaying at Bloomington Gold This Year.
A line of notable cars displaying at Bloomington Gold this year is starting to form and it isn't just Corvettes. The impressive line up includes the Corvette's cousin, the Camaro.
For starters, the 2019 Gold Collection: The Sharks will contain 45 Corvettes from the Shark Era of 1968-1972. Included of course is the car that inspired the Sharks, the Mako Shark. It's partner, the Manta Ray will also be on display. These two cars will be encompassed by some of the rarest, most unique cars of the era. Included will be L88's, L89's SL L88s, L89s, LS6s, ZR1, ZR2 convertible, LT1s, and COPO Corvettes. attendees will see some of the highest scoring Bloomington Gold Certified, SURVIVOR and Benchmark cars, along with NCRS Duntov Mark of Excellence winners, low mileage and one owner originals and some very significant special production and competition Corvettes.
Across the plaza will be housed the 2019 Inaugural Camaro Display. This display will contain some very distinct Camaros, some of which have never been displayed before. Of special interest are the first ever produced 1967 Camaro Z28 which was also the first Trans Am raced Camaro. Displayed next to the '67 will be a 1968 Camaro Z28, the only Z28 Convertible produced in 1968. The Roger Penske Sunoco Camaro Race Car will be on display as well as a few other highly respected Corvettes.
New for Bloomington Gold this year as well is a display of Resto Mod Corvettes. The resto mod is a relatively recent phenomenon in the collector-car world. As a counterpoint to the “survivor” craze, these new cars mix old and new technology to create the best of both worlds, matching classic styling with modern comfort, performance and reliability.
