How can you make the most of your Corvette’s Head-Up Display (HUD)?
Making the Most of Your C8 Corvette’s Head-Up Display
Sliding into the driver’s seat of your C8 Corvette, you’ve got performance at your fingertips—and thanks to the Head-Up Display (HUD), vital driving data right in your line of sight. The HUD projects speed, RPM, navigation, and more onto the windshield, so you can keep your eyes on the road while staying fully informed.

HUD Overview
The Head-Up Display projects key information through a lens on top of the instrument panel directly onto the windshield. Depending on equipment, it can show speed, tachometer, G-force, navigation prompts, incoming calls, and driver assistance alerts—all without taking your eyes off the road.
Important: Keep the HUD image dim and low in your field of view at night. A display that’s too bright or too high may slow your reaction time. Also, never use the HUD as a parking aid; distances can appear misleading.
How to Adjust Your HUD
- Adjust your seat and start the car: Sit in your normal driving position and start the engine so the HUD activates.
- Vertical position ($): Use the HUD control to move the image up or down until it sits comfortably in your line of sight.
- Select a display view (!): Press the mode button to cycle through Tour, Sport, Track, Navigation, or Stealth views.
- Brightness (D): Lift the switch to brighten, press to dim, or hold down to turn off. The HUD will auto-adjust for lighting, but manual tweaks help in extreme conditions.
- Rotation: While in Park, use the right steering wheel controls to access HUD rotation. Adjust the angle until the image looks level, then save.
Exploring HUD Views
- Tour: Speed, gear, shift indicator, and speed sign (available in My Mode or Z-Mode).
- Sport: Speed, circular tachometer, gear, shift indicator, and G-Force meter (My Mode/Z-Mode).
- Track: Speed, gear, shift lights, and lap timers, including gain/loss vs. best lap (My Mode/Z-Mode).
- Navigation: Displays turn-by-turn prompts during active navigation, then reverts back.
- Stealth: Minimalist view with speed and battery propulsion capability (Stealth Mode only).
The HUD can also temporarily show interrupts like incoming calls, audio selections, or vehicle alerts, regardless of which view you’re in.
Why It Matters
A properly set HUD reduces the need to glance down at the instrument cluster. This keeps your focus where it belongs—on the road—while still giving you instant feedback on speed, RPMs, navigation, and track performance data.
Pro Tips & Care
- Keep brightness low at night to avoid glare or slower reaction times.
- Avoid polarized sunglasses—they can make the image disappear.
- Never use the HUD to estimate distance when parking.
- If direct sunlight washes out the display, adjust its height or switch views.
- Clean the inside of the windshield regularly. For the HUD lens, use a soft cloth with glass cleaner—never scratch or press hard.
HUD Troubleshooting
If you cannot see the HUD clearly:
- Ensure nothing is covering the HUD lens.
- Check brightness settings—it may be set too dim or too bright.
- Re-adjust vertical height or rotation for clarity.
- Remove polarized sunglasses.
- Clean both the windshield and the HUD lens.
If issues persist, contact your dealer for inspection.
