Amazing who you meet in the car world, its awesome how small and enthusiastic it is. Friendships are made and stories are shared…. Dave, a friend, a customer was cruising along in Arizona this week when he ran into a pack of Z06 charging trough the state…. read on for the story… and better yet the images…. can you spot all the differences between the test mules and we saw at NAIAS.
Never Know what You’ll See in Tortilla Flats
So I’m cruising along the Apache Trail (Arizona’s version of Tail of the Dragon) just past Tortilla Flats on a Thursday afternoon minding my own business in my rented SS convertible when I hear this godawful rumble coming from up the canyon when lo and behold look what shows up…………….four Z06 test cars howling thru’ the Arizona desert with the exhausts open. Almost went off a cliff trying to get turned around to catch them (like the cars in the last picture). LT4, 600+ horse, two 8 speeds and 2 autos, two with the upgraded brake and pilot sport tires (one of which was going flat), recaros, two had the optional rear spoiler (higher lip wraps around, open in the center). None of them had the production Z06 hoods. I think just the one had the optional ground effects (front splitter, side effects, extra pieces by the front tires). Awesome listening to the random people standing around wondering why they “painted” them that way, ” they must be a club”, etc
